The Girls
These goats in the top section are our mature does that have been producing for a few years and aren’t really changing or growing anymore. We also have a page of our legacy does that have moved on for some reason or another but have offspring in the herd. You can see them here: Legacy Does

Pepper – Pepper is the first daughter of our first goat, Annie, and now has now taken the mantle of the herd’s lead dam. She came to our farm as a young kid with her mom. We learned so much from our experiences with her. She was an extremely energetic kid and used to do acrobatic kicks and jumps around the pen when we brought them in for bed at night. Since then, she has settled down to be an attentive and patient mother. She is an easy milker and holds her rank with a no-nonsense attitude.
1/2 Alpine, 1/4 Nubian, 1/4 Nigerian Dwarf

Comet – Comet was the first kid born to us on our own farm. Thus, she is a little spoiled. It was her floppy ears that sent us down the road toward more Nubian content to our herd. Comet insists on taking first position in the stanchion, and lapsed into a serious depression the year that she lost a kid to miscarriage and didn’t get milked. She is one of the most “classic” goat personalities – friendly and more than a little pushy. She loves company and a good scratch on the rump.
5/8 Nubian, 1/4 Alpine, 1/8 Nigerian Dwarf

Spring – is Annie’s daughter with an experimental breed buck: half Nigerian Dwarf, half La Mancha. She didn’t inherit her sire’s elf ears, but she is very friendly, vocal, and an excellent mother.
1/2 Nigerian Dwarf, 1/4 Nubian, 1/4 La Mancha

Nutmeg– Nutmeg came to us in November 2020 from another farm that was managed naturally. She was born on February 16, 2019 and had a kid at her original home. She is a bigger goat for us and has quickly worked her way up through the pecking order and is now in the top couple of goats. She is easy going and calm almost always. She is eager to get in the stanchion and stands well for milking. She is our first papered purebred Nubian doe and had two sons this year that are up for sale. They are also purebred.

She is our first Doe that qualifies as an American Nubian, meaning that the sir’s in her line have been pure breed Nubian for five generations. I think we are going to keep her.
